Booklist 2013

This probably would've been more effective if I'd actually started it on time. Instead, I have very little memory of what I've read so far this year. ...Which is exactly why I decided I should list them again. Because I am a bear of very little brain.

Also I'm not counting or anything; this is just a list of the new books I've been reading. Especially the ones (all of them, basically) that I'm getting from the library. I'll never find them again otherwise!

(Yeah, guess who forgot about this again.)

FICTION

The Rook - Daniel O'Malley
Myfanwy Thomas awakes in a London park surrounded by dead bodies. With her memory gone, her only hope of survival is to trust the instructions left in her pocket by her former self. She quickly learns that she is a Rook, a high-level operative in a secret agency that protects the world from supernatural threats. But there is a mole inside the organization and this person wants her dead.

As Myfanwy battles to save herself, she encounters a person with four bodies, a woman who can enter her dreams, children transformed into deadly fighters, and an unimaginably vast conspiracy. Suspenseful and hilarious, THE ROOK is an outrageously inventive debut for readers who like their espionage with a dollop of purple slime.

Shoot to Thrill and Off the Grid - P.J. Tracy
Monkeewrench series

The Gemini Virus - Wil Mara
Wants to be The Hot Zone meets NCIS. Fails at this.

The Shadowy Horses - Susanna Kearsley (reading)
I came for the archeology and lost Roman legion. I'm starting to get the feeling I'm in for romance.

NON-FICTION

Outlaw Platoon - Sean Parnell
A riveting story of American fighting men, Outlaw Platoon is Lieutenant Sean Parnell’s stunning personal account of the legendary U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division’s heroic stand in the mountains of Afghanistan.
